Walking by Grace into the Promise

I recall a pivotal time in my life a few years ago when I had to make one of the most significant pivots of my life. Sitting in my room contemplating whether or not I wanted to take a few steps forward or just remain safe under my roof in my comfy bed, waiting for opportunity to knock on my door. It was around the fall, a month before Thanksgiving. What a great way to start the festive celebration and cheer, one would think. At the time, I felt very uncertain about this Thanksgiving and Christmas because I had never made a decision quite this intense, right before two major holidays; we’ll add three if you include New Year’s Eve. This was a life transition that would ultimately lead me into some upward hills and the lowest of lows.

“Some seasons seem as if they go by very fast, while others take their sweet time, especially when it comes time to making a major decision!”

The only thing I had to stand on was my faith and a promise in my heart from God. Surprisingly enough, there were multiple confirmations all in the same week to move forward into my new season. I mean five very detailed confirmations from people that had no clue of the full story. It was as if God downloaded specific details about my future into my trusted leaders, colleagues, and friends so that I would not doubt what He said. To make it more interesting, there were even opportunities offered immediately upon the complete closing of one door to the old chapter, while saying yes to the new one within the same week.

My mind was blown away at the faithfulness of God during this time of undertaking. An unforgettable assuredness and peace in my heart as I continued this faith journey. Affirming words continued to connect with my heart, guiding me confidently ahead into what was promised. God said He would order my steps if I trusted Him with not just an ounce of my heart, but my whole heart. I felt like Joshua and the children of Israel as they crossed over into a new place that they’d never gone before. They had to trust God’s plan for their lives as this was a new residence they’d never been to before.

Joshua 3:4 “…that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.” (NKJV)

What faith, strength, courage, obedience, and oneness it took for the leader Joshua, along with the children of Israel, to cross over, leaving no one behind. This wasn’t Joshua’s first rodeo of victory, taking on something new; defeating every obstacle courageously. A true encouragement to me it was as I trusted the leading of the Holy Spirit to move into a new place, new opportunities, new relationships, and greater in-depth vision. I believe the hardest part was making a conscious decision to start the engine by putting one foot in front of the other, regardless of what was present. In front of me, I only saw a short snippet of what to expect, where the entire blueprint was not quite laid out. But ahead, God saw the entire plan, and He was already making provision for me. Talk about “walking by faith and not by sight…” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7 (ESV). I’ve come to realize that some of my greatest wins were won in a posture of genuine faith movements and the leading of God’s voice.

“I must admit starting can be a great challenge, but with time God allows us to flow gracefully into the promise if we continue trusting Him through it.”

What will it take for you to give yourself permission to receive God’s grace by walking into a lifetime of promises fulfilled? There came a time when I received the dream and prayed it out, but had to wait and also be ready to go forward gracefully when the timing was right. And I did just that a month before Thanksgiving that year. In all things I give thanks. I give thanks for what He has and continues to do. I am truly grateful for everything, and I trust you are too, just the same! Your time is coming, and it may very well be a sweet holiday surprise for ya that pops up after all! I’m praying for you always!

“It is your time to walk gracefully into all the promises due to you! Are you ready to move and receive the new thing? His grace will be everything you need and more. Trust the process.”
